History

The Narooma Pickleball Association had its original inception in 2023, when two enthusiastic Narooma locals approached the Police Citizens Youth Club about hosting adult pickleball events in the Narooma Sports and Leisure Centre. PCYC provided equipment, organised court bookings, and managed a booking platform. About the same time, another couple of passionate pickleballers with international links also began to spark interest amongst locals. Before long, groups were pickling regularly at the Leisure Centre and the outdoor basketball courts at Bill Smyth Oval. Seeing the future, Eurobodalla Shire Council painted pickleball court lines on the outdoor courts, and also supported PCYC Far South Coast and the Narooma Pickleball group to secure long-term bookings at the Leisure Centre.

In 2025, when PCYC was no longer able to support the activity, the local pickleball interest group formed a working party to investigate the steps required for club development under the banner of Pickleball Australia.

The Narooma Pickleball Association became incorporated in August 2025, and affiliated with the NSW Pickleball Association.

All the founding pickleball players are now members of the club. Come and meet them on the court!
